Letter from Sir George Grey to Donald McLean Esq. dated 28th. October 1849. Government House, Auckland, October 28th. 1849. My dear Sir, Dr. Sinclair will write to you officially by this mail, in reference to the disputes which had arisen with Piripi. I trust sincerely they may all end well; and I have little doubt that you will succeed in arranging matters. Let me, however, hear constantly from you, upon the subject. You need be under no apprehension, for there is always such a force in hand that we can readily put down any disturbance. The only thing, is always to give me timely information. The Puketapu people can do nothing, with the Europeans in front, and the party of William King in the rear. I hope now to be with you in a month, at the latest. I enclose you a letter from Wm. King, which you can read, and then give to him. Shew this letter to Captain King, to whom I would have written, if I had received any official report on the subject of this difference with the Puketapu. Faithfully yours. (Signed) G. Grey. To:- Donald McLean Esq.
