Meannee Feb. 9th. 67/ Dear Sir, We had a meeting last night at the Meanee Hotel to hear the opinions of the Candidates for the next election at the meeting I proposed we sign a requisition to you asking you to continue our Member there was all sorts of reports about your intentions of offering yourself for Napier but nothing satisfactory. We would be glad to know from yourself if you would allow us to return again I am sure if a requisition was open every Elector in the district would sign it by the feeling of the Meeting as far as I can judge our Meeting last evening was a very stormy one Candidates Whitmore Tiffin and Maney. Whitmore come in for it heavily. I think he will have no chance. I think myself we have a sort of claim of you before any other place we returned you unanimous you have given sattisfaction why desert us I should like you and Tiffin. I remain Yours respectfully, Thos. Powdrell. To Donald McLean Esq.
