My goodfor-nothing yet dear Son, I find it is of no use writing to you in the hope of getting an answer! - that "Hope" as Willie Bayly says of "the Future" is past and gone. So I shall begin now to tease you with scraps of poetry in the expectation of your getting "Ridi" and then may be you will drop us a line to stop your old Mothers folly. So by way of beginning I send you a copy of what, I think rather pretty lines, dedicated to my "Gudem man" by an old school fellow of his, who is now reduced in circumstances.
