New Plymouth 5th. August. /62. My goodfor-nothing yet dear Son, I find it is of no use writing to you in the hope of getting an answer! - that "Hope" as Willie Bayly says of "the Future" is past and gone. So I shall begin now to tease you with scraps of poetry in the expectation of your getting "Ridi" and then may be you will drop us a line to stop your old Mothers folly. So by way of beginning I send you a copy of what, I think rather pretty lines, dedicated to my "Gudem man" by an old school fellow of his, who is now reduced in circumstances. The mail is just closing so God bless you is the prayer of your old sincerely attached Mother, H.A. Wilson.
