Wellington Jany. 11,1871 Dear Maclean I am endeavouring to get some information as to the proceedings etc. of the Native Lands Court - but I can find nothing except numerical abstracts of cases -which throw no light upon the practical working of the Court - Fenton will no doubt be ready to give us information - Will you ask him where and how I can get what I want - In particular - I want to estimate the financial results of the Court. These are not in the general accounts of the Colony - as the Expenditure is charged provincially and the Revenue is accounted for to the Provincial Treasuries - Will you bee good enough to give me yr. assistance to getting light upon these matters - We are anxiously waiting for news from you - There is nothing special to note here - Very faithfully yrs.
