The Cottage Wednesday My dear Donald I have just had a letter which was only added but another pang to my feelings. I have now no uncle to write to mention your name of which he was so proud. It seems almost impossible for me to reconcile myself to the thought that he is no more. Time enables us to overcome many things but it will never efface his memory from my heart. I am all alone today. Alex is busy. No one to talk to me, none to whom I can mention his once familiar name. I am anxious to get down but unwilling to leave Alex. He is doing so well. I think your interests are best consulted by one of us being here. If Cath does not feel inclined to come up I will at least remain here until the draft of the sheep is over, fencing, ploughing and many other things going on.
