Taupo. November 29th. 1868 Sir, I have the honour to send you the following Report. I have just heard that Wirihana Te Koekoe, with a few of his people, and an ex-prisoner, started yesterday for the Urewera Country, to bring over Te Kooti and his people to live at Taupo. Some time ago Wirihana went over and invited them to come and live at his place. In the event of these ex-prisoners coming here, I do not think that the Europeans would be safe. There is to be a meeting at Oruanui on Friday next. All the Chiefs at the southern end of the lake are to attend; and it will be then decided what action they are to take in the matter, of these people coming to live at Taupo. If anything fresh comes out at the Meeting, I will write at once. I have the honour to be Sir, Your most obedient servant (Signed) J. St. George.
