Civil Commissioner's Office Napier, April 6th, 1865 Sir, As I have been performing the whole of the duties of the Civil Commissioner since the date of your leaving for Wellington in addition to those of my own proper Department, I have the honour to request that you will do me the favour to forward to the General Govt. my application to be allowed to draw half the Salary, and the commuted allowance for forage and travelling expenses attached to the former of the abovenamed offices, from the 16th of February last, in accordance with the usual rule of the public service.
