Government House, New Zealand July 15, 1871 My dear McLean, I hope the "Luna" will get off next Tuesday or Wednesday at the very latest; but no one can form any previous idea of the amount of packing to be done in breaking up an establishment like this. Fairchild says he will put in at Tauranga to telegraph to you the exact time he will be at Napier. Mr. R. G. Bellers (late of the 22nd Regt.) has asked me to forward to you the enclosed letter from his father, whom I knew formerly at Corfu. He wants to get into the local forces but I told him that you had great claims upon you for local service etc. I know nothing of this young man personally. Very truly yrs. G. F. Bowen P. S. I hope the "Luna" will come for us to the Manakau by August 1st. Lady Bowen has been very unwell but is now better.
