Wairoa June 14th 1865 Dear Sir I see by the paper that you have started for Turanga, I hope you will be able to purchase some country there it would be the making of a fine district - Kohea intends starting for Napier and Porangahau to day to a tangihanga there - I expect to meet him at Napier on his way back or perhaps on his way there if I can get up in time with Paul, Kopu and others. I should have completed this purchase if wet weather had no t set in. They (Paul and Co.) are anxious to go up in the steamer to fetch the money, I expect about the end of next week to be ready to go to Napier - You spoke - when I was last in Town - about engageing a steady Native to take charge of the Native Hostelry - I think Graham would take the place - I hear that the Mohaka settlers are very indignant with you and Mr. Ormond about Pearses appointment and because you never answered their petition - Everything is quiet here - I remain, Dear Sir Your ob. st. S. Locke To His Honor D. McLean Napier
