Wairoa, June 4th /65 Dear Sir Mr. Worgan is anxious to hire from the Government that portion of land in the new Township at the Wairoa for the term of twenty one years, which is now taken up by the road along the river bank - The above land is now fenced in and under cultivation as a garden with fruit trees etc. The frontage to the river is about eight chains. There are also two dwelling houses on the land, one of which was purchased from Mr. Atwood, the other is a new house built by Messrs. Worgan and Riddell - It appears a hard case that Messrs. Worgan and Riddell should be turned out of house etc. but I have no doubt but that you have plans for meeting such cases as the above - I remain Dear Sir, Your Ob. St. S. Locke To His Honor D. McLean Esqre. Napier
