Clive Grange Mch 30 1870 My dear McLean Pardon me for worrying you about my private arrangements but you are the only person that Whitaker will take any notice of with respect to Gore Browne Lease. The lease runs out on Dec. 31 1870 and I am here on mere suffrance; a highly unsatisfactory tenure. St.Hill's run is now for sale or Lease price £8,000 for 12,000 acres or 12/4 per acre and is quite as good land as Governor Brownes, and adjoins the same all the way by boundary line fence - I still prefer having Gore Brownes land as it is at my very door if I can get satisfactory terms - It is not fair to keep me waiting in suspense and then perhaps show me no consideration whatever under the false notion that they can do better elsewhere. I could and must suit myself with someone of the properties now offering if I hear nothing from you or Whitaker soon - Try and arrange this Lease for me and some day I may be able to return like friendly assistance as you know I would with pleasure. Yours always Joseph Rhodes
