Ahuriri July 25th. 1851. My dear Sir, You mentioned in your note to Mr. Park that I should define the boundaries of the run I wished for at Waipukurau, now, circumstances have caused me to alter my mind as to sheep farming, so I give up the run; I hope to get a Surveyor-ship from Government soon, as I hope I have given satisfaction, it has been my best wish to please all, and from my Superior Officer Mr. Park, I am sure of a good word. It appears that there will soon be stationary berths as Surveyor of a district to be filled up, and if I can get a good word or two from you, I think that I should be sure of being appointed to some such berth, either here or at Otago, or at Wanganui. I hope, that if you think me deserving, you will not forget me, should an opportunity present itself. I hope you are well, and that we shall soon see you here. The natives say that they are very "pouri" about you. Your horse is very well and fat and saucy. No one has mounted him according to Hori. This is the only paper in Ahuriri. Yours very truly C.H.L. Pelichit. To:- Donald McLean Esq.
