Native Secretary's Office, Auckland February 3, 1862 Sir, I am desired by the Minister for Native Affairs to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 9th ultimo, and to inform you that your draft on the colonial Treasury for one thousand pounds to enable you to settle outstanding Land Purchases in the Wairarapa District, has been paid, and that the Sub Treasurer has been authorized on receipt of your requisition to make further advances not exceeding in the whole (and including that draft) the sum of Two Thousand pounds provided that in each case the Superintendent of Wellington expresses his assent to the payments intended to be made.
