30 July 1857 Napier Dear Donald In case I don't se you I write you a few lines to let you no that I have spoken to Captain Carter last night about the sheep you wanted to buy. He says that he will let you have 200 sheep at 24 shillings each and deliver the same wethers three week from this date. I believe Captain Carter's sheep to be some of the best in the district and nine months wooll on them at the present time which will bring their price down to less than one pound. The halfe of the money in cash, the other in three months. The sheep are to be at one year and tow year old. They are cheap and good and he offered me the pick of them wich you no must be good. Do not buy from any other till I se you. I shall se Laurie sheep and no the price before I se you but Carter sheep you should buy. I consider them cheap. In haste your affectionate brother Alexander McLean
