New Plymouth 12 January 1872 My dear Sir, As Mr. Parris leaves this place tomorrow morning for the purpose of seeing you and has kindly offered to take a note for me - I do myself the pleasure of writing to you to say that I received a Telegram from Mr. Gisborne on Sunday last in which he tells me of your being at Wanganui and of your coming on, in a few days, to Patea - that you were down about the Land question. Will you be so obliging as to give me a line and say if and when I may expect to see you here. I may add that everyone is most anxious for you to do that which it is believed you can do - vizt. Settle all our Land difficulties on this West Coast . Twelve months this day Cobbs Coach first arrived here. Mrs. Carrington desires her kind regards and I remain My dear Sir, Yours sincerely, Fred. A. Carrington The Honorable D. McLean etc. etc. etc.
