Kawau Novr. 1st. 1873 My dear McLean, I was much obliged to you, for your letter about Mr. George, being put in the Commission of the peace, I was also much obliged to you for your offer of having this island made a polling place, I should be glad, if this could be done. But you would confer a great benefit on us, if you could get this island made a District for the registration of births, deaths and marriages, and have Mr. Seymour Thorne George, appointed Registrar for the District. We have now constant births here, and cannot comply with the law. Pray get this done for me if you can. I do not trouble you with a long letter. We are all well here. Very anxious to have a visit from you, and wish all success and happiness. Affectly, yours, G. Grey.
