3 June 1863 Maraekakaho My dear brother I send you a few lines by post to tell all is well. Hopeing you are all the same. I had a letter from Masson the other [day] and it apears that his son has misrepresented to his father about the grass seed. The son asked me if I wanted the seed and I toldd him I did not. He said he had to much on their station and I then said that I would give him other seed for next year or some other time and the lad said that will do. Mr Masson allso mentions Taner takin[g] that land but I believe Mr Mason will have the land before long. It shall never pay him to keep a small piece like that. He allso wants the number of sheep got at diferent times and I did not like to send them till such time as I got all tha[t] couldd. I shall send you the number of sheep and wish you to wright to him and I shall enclose his letter. Wether 47 2 toothed ewes 19 4 toothed 2 Lambs 8 Old ewes 6 That is all I have got of Massons but Oliver shorne 29 of those sheep which Mr Tolma[r]sh ought to pay Mr Masson for their wool at the rate of to or 3 shillings per head. In hopes you will wright Masson. In haste Your allways affectionate brother Alexander McLean
