Wednesday Napier My dear McLean I suppose you have no news from our front --It appears that the abandonment of Wanganui by our sage ruler is bearing fruit -- I trust good will come out of all this apparent evil and the much enduring settlers will at length take everything into their own hands and thrust forcibly aside a Govt. that is working wide spread ruin. Yours truly J. Rhodes I have helped to stir up the good folks at Wellington and I feel sure that the last blunder of the Ministry and the Col. should rid us of them -- Send word down if any news, or if you will -- let me know what is your opinion as to whether any of our friendlies will go up with Whitmore -- I fear not As the enemy is exhausted now it is a splendid chance for the little man doing something great!
