Wellington May 6th. 1852. Sir, Understanding that you have been entering into certain arrangements with the natives of the Wairarapa, to lease a portion of the Wharekaka plains, lately occupied by Miss Clifford and Weld, I have to call your attention to the 1st. and 2nd, clauses of the Native land purchase Ordinance, sections 7 to 19; which I am directed by the Government to enforce against you. Should you persist in any further negotiations with the natives for any portuon of the Run in question, I herewith enclose for your information, copies of the Clauses No. 1 and 2 above alluded to.
