Waipukurau May 7th 1862 Sir, With reference to the 200 acres to be given by the Provincial Government to the Natives in exchange for an equal quantity of land forming the Eastern Part of the Tikokino reserve, I have now the honour to request that, as all the land to the Westward of the original reserve - where it was first understood between myself and the late Superintendent that the 200 acres in exchange were to be taken - has been sold to individuals, the sections named in the margin may be reserved from sale, in addition to those lately coloured yellow on the map, until the survey now in progress by Mr FitzGerald is completed; when I shall do myself the honour to hand you a map, showing what portions of the sections in question have been required to make up the quantity of land agreed upon by the deed of purchase to be reserved for the natives. May I hope for an early reply to this letter, as the threatened difficulties of some extent depend upon the way in which the promises of the Government are carried out in this matter. I have, etc. G. S. Cooper
