Warea, June 22 /47 My dear McLean I should long before this have sent you a note acknowledging the receipt of yours from the 10th inst. had it not been for a rumour brought here by Henwood or some of the natives, according to which you would come to Warea in the course of last week or, as Aperakawa said, yesterday, so that have been dayly expecting the pleasure of your visit. However, tho' having been disappointed thus far, I hope that, the pleasure of seeing your face here at my humble abode, is near at hand To cheer others up and to be cheered up by others with agreeable and interesting conversation is both pleasant and desirable and in a retired spot like this where there is no change of society or intercourse one feels the want of it particularly. Mr.Frost is going to town tomorrow morning and will take this note. All here is as usual and no news whatever - you will have heard that, Henwoods mill here is finished - some trifling matters about it excepted - and that it answers well except the sift which is rather too fine. The flour, ground last week, is very good indeed. With what delight, interest - and I venture to say, benefit, I read "Fawcetts essay on anger" I am unable to express. Surely the book should be in every house. It would do much good. It is very long since I had an opportunity to pay my respects to Wicksteeds. If you should see them please remember me kindly to all of them, or, if you like, tell them that in the course of this week I shall finish the perusal of the last of the books I have here at present and then return them by first opportunity. Please will you be so kind as to inform me when it was the Governor arrived at New Plymouth last summer?
