Boundaries of New Plymouth. Literal Translation of the boundaries of the small block including the town and suburbs of New Plymouth. Beginning on the western side of the Wesleyan Mission Station, at a place called "Waitapu" going straight from thence along the survey line to "Tukupo" where it turns Westward, and goes to the end of the survey line, of the surveyed Land belonging to Captain Creagh (twenty six (26) is the number of this Section belonging to Captain Creagh, on the Map of the Land) to a place called "Harakeke" and direct in a straight line from thence Southward to "Kokoari"; where it turns, and goes straight along the survey line Eastward to "Wairingapoka" the end of the surveyed Land belonging to Mr. Aubrey (forty nine (49) is the number of this section of surveyed Land belonging to Mr. Aubrey on the Map of the Land) near Te Henui from thence straight along the survey line to "Hawehawe", where it turns, and goes from thence Eastward along the survey line of the Land belonging to Mr. Thatcher (Twenty six (26) is the number of Mr. Thatcher's land on the map) till it falls into the "Henui" at Eringa; from thence it goes along the river, till it arrives at the seaward side of the surveyed Land belonging to Mr. Thatcher. From thence it goes straight along the survey line through "Paipai" to the Waiwakaiho, and thence along that river upwards to "Te Papa" and thence Northward, till it falls into the survey line at Waeringapoka, and thence in a straight line, along the road by Watatiri, crossing the river to Tauringakuwau, when it turns off to the cliff "Te Puia", and from "Te Puia" it passes seaward by the side of Mr. Baines's house, to the Swamp, when it turns off to the "Waiwakaiho" and follows its course to the sea, and then along the sea coast to the "Waitapu". These are the boundaries which have been walked, and pointed out by us, in company with Mr. Forsaith, Mr. McLean, Mr. Whiteley - and Mr. Carrington? Appd. H. F. Nov. 22 /44.
