20 July Napier Great many people so ill with colds. Ma chere frere Everything is going on well here. There are claims upon me at times which I cannot altogether desire but I do everything in my power to keep down expenses. The A'Deanes have asked me to give them a bed the night before they leave. I have shewn them every attention otherwise and I think it very rude of them to expect anything further. The Wrays have also asked me if they should be leaving. Wray thinks they will not have to go. Hope the Session will not be prolonged much further but this is looked upon as an important Session, consequently you will all be worn out ere it is over. So many kind enquiries as to how you are amongst the ladies here. They say they are under your protection now and they have no further fear of the Hauhaus. Sorry there were no letters from England. Yrs Annabella
