Te Aute May 26th /70 My Dear Mr. McLean I enclose a letter which I recd, from some of the Ngatiraukawa of the West Coast accompanied with a request that I would forward it to you. I have not had any communication with them upon the subject and the only reason that I can conceive for their having sent the letter through me is that they may have heard that we generally agreed about the management of Native matters in this district. You will notice that the first signature to the letter is that of the man who was taken up for interrupting the survey. I very much regret that you have not met these people upon this question, and sincerely hope that you will do so before long. Feeling that it is unnecessary for me to say anything farther I remain, Yours faithfully Saml. Williams
