I am glad to hear that you are all well - I had just ridden down when Dr. Pollen drove in, in company with Mr. Searancke and also Wi Patene and Te Wheoro. The two latter gents are going up with me this morning to the Kuiti, We are still quiet here as yet, only rather excited and I cannot say as yet what will be the result. Of course everyone here expects that the Government will demand the Murderers to be given up, but on that question, I think they will not agree to it, but still there is great diversion among them on that question. I brought down an answer from Manuhiri to Mr.Searancke and it is not satisfactory at all so I hear from Mr.S's conversation with Dr. Pollen. In regard to the report about myself, it is not true I have not been molested, only I have received notice to be cautious in going about. Whitiora was at my place the day before I left on his return from the Kuiti, but we had no conversation together on the subject. I enclose you a letter for Mr. McLean by this Mail. We hear nothing at all that is facts about Te Kooti that old Reweti is an imposter, you must not listen to his reports. So at present I cannot give any opinion what will be the result of this affair. Waikatos are saucy, but it depends, I think, on what steps the Govt. intend to take in the matter. I am afraid that none of us will be able to see you at Christmas. Our crops for one thing will prevent it also the raruraru about this affair. You must know also that Mary is to be married soon to one of the Turners - but you will hear from me soon again.
