Wellington 25th. November 1869. My dear Sir, I arrived here safe and sound after inspecting the posts on the way, as you directed; and have reported on them to the Commissioner. I have also had my accounts gone into, and you will no doubt be glad to hear that I shall come out only owing to the Government some seven or eight pounds. One large sum of £546, which had been charged against me, was found should have been charged against Capt. W. Fraser, Tauranga; so that, of course, comes off my accounts; and for the remainder of the large amounts, which stood against me in the Treasury books, viz, - £1134.15.0. I can satisfactorily account mine, as I before said, some seven or eight pounds. Cooper and Mr. Brown Gore will write you on this subject, I have no doubt. I have not yet been told what district I am to have; and I wish to know, as I feel very uneasy. There seem to be so many changes taking place. I hope you have been quite well since I left. I was introduced to Mr. Fox the other day; and went to hear his lecture against Wellington seems very dull. The Provincial Council is sitting, but does not seem to stir anything up much. Everyone is delighted with your success in Waikato; and you may be sure I have spoken of it. Please believe me to be Yours faithfully (Signed) J. Fraser. P.S. I think the Treasury have treated me very badly, as they never wrote to me.
