Memo. from G. Eyre, to Mr. Domett, dated 2nd. October 1849 The Lieut. Governor to write Mr. McLean, as to his future proceedings. Mr. Domett, Write officially to Mr. McLean requesting that (if no cause of which I am aware exists to detain him at Taranaki), he will, , return, to resume the negotiations on which he was engaged. State that the New Zealand Company's Agent has made repeated applications to know if he has returned, and to reauest that no delay might take place in bringing these important matters to a close. Observe, also, that I have been in full expectation for some time past, that he would have resumed his labours at Manawatu; and that several letters of instructions relative to that question, and to another service on which the Government are desirous of employing him, have been sent to the Manawatu, and are awaiting him there, at Mr. Duncan's. (Signed) G. Eyre. 2nd. October 1849. Let this letter be written in duplicate, and sent up to my Office to-day; I will then get a copy sent by the steamer, if she goes that way, and will forward other by some other means. Mr. McLean accordingly, 2nd. October 1849. Letters sent up to Government House.
