3 December [18--] Ahuriri Dear brother I have this day come down to the port and found the Erin going to Auckland and I have no time to spare to write you a long letter but I hope to se you at this place this summer as it will be to your own advantage. You must come if you can. I have got one of the best runs in the district and I am doing all I can for you. Alex will have no more to do with your affairs and I have to take them in hand and I shall do my best for your interes. As I have no more time to spare as the Erin is weighing anchor.
