Masterton 16th Sept. 1859 My dear sir, I have not as you wished me proceeded as yet to Castle Point, but propose doing so early next week as I am creditably informed that you were to be at Porangahau last Tuesday, everything is very quiet here all the principal Natives are absent or I might have completed the surveys of some of the Lands offerred for sale they are all I mean the Natives most anxiously awaiting your arrival fondly trusting that you have large stores of money for them, too for what lands I cannot divine. Donald and Rhodes are also anxious I think to see you about the Homestead at Manaia I think they are getting in a fidget about it. The West Coast Natives are also anxiously expecting you I think I told you that old Pairoroku is dead. I look upon it as a happy relief I should wish also to obtain but I will speak with you on your arrival here. Yours faithfully in haste, Will N. Searancke Donald McLean Esqre, NAPIER
