Gishorne 7th. June 1872. Dear Sir I am in receipt of Waiapu letters, informing me of the continuance of the Mokena and Wikiruihi dispute. The latter has erected and fortified a pa in the face of Mokena; who appears to take it quietly. I do not think in any case then would attempt hostilities. Ropata raher inclines to the Nikiruihi party. Te Purewa died at Whakatane 10th. ultimo. Settlers here are glad Te Kooti has got through to Waikato. I have the honour to be Dear Sir, Yours most faithfully (Signed) T.W. Porter Capt. Adjt.
