Otawhao, Augst. 22, 55. Dear Sir, Manuka requests me to say that he wishes to dispose of a piece of wood land adjoining the block which you purchased from him when here. He requests me to say that the land now offered will be valuable on account of the timber. All has been quiet since you left in reference to the block purchased by you from Manuka the only remark made by Waru before he left was that I should request Mr. Searancke not to survey it at present. Manuka informs me that Waru said to him before he left, "do not have the land surveyed before summer, until you hear of some other Chief having sold land in the district". Trusting that we shall have the pleasure of seeing you in the summer, I remain, Dear Sir, Yours truly, Jno. Morgan. D. McLean, Esqr. Auckland. Dr. Sir, On Manuka's insisting on my opening this letter to you I have taken the liberty of doing so, especially, as he stated to me that the letter was his at least dictated to Mr. Morgan by him, the piece of Land mentioned in this letter is a piece of bush and Timber Land and good quality but not large in extent I should say not more than 2 to 300 Acres. I shall be back in three weeks in Auckland to get my instruments when I shall be happy to undertake Manuka's Land and the Homesteads as arranged by you. I am, Sir, Yrs. very obediently, Will N. Searancke. D. McLean, Esqre., Chief Commissr. Auckland.
