10 May 1864 Glenorchy My dear Donald Mr Weber was here today and has desided about the road. It is coming down at the back of the house just in the place I pointed out before he had the same place pointed out. I let the pheasants out in the gully and these I go and fed them every day. This morning as Mr Weber and I were looking over the road the cock bird flew out before us. I hope things are all correct with you and that you have arranged with those people without any trouble. What can be keeping Alexr. I hope he is well and I supose you have James busy writing or he would be up. I think a great deal of the young man. I wish you would take a ride up soon some Saturday and return on Monday. It would do you some good. Gave me the news when you send James back if you please as I would like to here how you have arranged matters. It is time Alexr was home now if he can come and Kate ought to come with him for a time. I have no more news till we meet. I hope Annabella is now quite happy that she has got with you. Poor thing she was very anxious for it if she can keep chearful she will do well. I have been sowing a good deal of grass on the hills since I came home and harrowing it in places and I hope it will do well. Your affectionate brother Archibald John McLean
