Te Kapu 29/1/74 Dear Sir I came here to attend Urewera meeting at Maungapohatu, I find it however postponed and Kereru absent at Napier. None of Wairoa natives meant to be present expressing fear of treachery owing to Urewera only inwiting Rangatiras. There seems likely to be considerable soreness as to boundaries between Ngatikahungu and Urewera. It is one of those old conquest disputes and the best way to settle difference would be for Govt. hold the debateable ground. I am disappointed at Meeting not being held and return tomorrow by Reinga road. I have the honor to be, Dear Sir Yours most Faithfully, T.W. Porter, Adjt. I saw Mr.Burton in re Ihakas money. None appears to have been kept for them.
