Police Barracks January 20th. 1851. Dear Sir, Before closing, I sent Medland to Captain King's, to ascertain how he was, and whether he intended to despatch the former to Wellington, no opportunity having offered. Captain King is well in health, but unable to walk. He says if an opportunity offers to Wellington between this and next Thursday evening, Medland is to leave. If not, Captain King considers it would be useless to send. I have therefore kept back Abstracts and papers requiring your signature which, if Medland should not leave, will be forwarded by next opportunity. The Attorney General, Captain Travers, Rev. Mr. Taylor, and Mr. G. Pitt, leave this afternoon for Auckland. Yours very sincerely (Signed) H. Halse. To:- D. McLean Esq.
