27 Octr 1864 Napier My dear Donald I came down to town last night with Mr Weber to get some settlement about advances for road party and found you had not arrived altho you were expected by all the people. It appears that the place is quite lost when you are out of it. The Miss Wilsons and Annabella are up at home and they are highly pleased with their trip. We are all quite well and I was very happy to hear that you were well and in a mission so desirable for the interest of the Province. I hope and trust you may be successful and purchase some land before you return, if so a settlement down there will be one of the great achievements to go down to your cridit. They tell me you are not to be back for a week or so and I return today home and will come down to see you when I hear of your return. Things are going on very well at home and prepairing for shearing etc. I remain in haste your affectionate bro Archibald John McLean
