Wellington 28 January 1872 My dear Sir, I forward by this mail for your perusal a bulky correspondence from Major Noake, who seems to have fully identified himself, with the settlers of the District, their wants and grievances. The Firing Regulations appear to be understood and appreciated, as there are no queries or complaints. The firing for the choice of Colonial Representatives is going on satisfactorily as in the Districts from which returns have been received, more than the required number have qualified. I was in doubt about the A. C. but we have already made up our number at the Depot and in the Waikato and Taranaki Districts. I am holding over a number of small matters until your return, which will not suffer in anyway by keeping. I have nothing unusual or import to report. The weather here still continues cool and pleasant but without any sign of rain, which is so much needed. I remain my dear Sir, Yours very truly, W. Moule
