Aotea Sep. 12th. 1860. Respected Sir, The enclosed note from Hohua Moulaere has just come to hand. The people connected with the tribes mentioned have just returned from Taranaki laden with spoil and there is I fear too much ground for Hohua's apprehensions. The fact, was communicated to Pingareka, who was invited to join in the expedition. It is not likely that he will do so. The writer of the note is his principal adviser. That something of this kind is contemplated is evident, from the fact that the king party have been so busy lately in canvassing for adherents. I am, Respected Sir, Yours respectfully, Thos. Skinner. P.S. I hope the gact of my communicating this will not be made public as I find that I am already a marked man.
