Kawhia 16 March 46 My Dear Sir, Yours of the 7th Ultimo I have just recd. and thank you for it. I have just returned from Auckland and in my note to Mr. Webster have told him all the news and asked him to let you see it. I expect the Attorney General here to night on his way to N. Plymouth. How will he get over the Tapu and Mokau? That I fear will cause me some trouble and others too. The two Pikopo chiefs Tanui and his son Kuri are the authors of the mischief; the Mokau people are I think blameless. I can only add that we are much obliged by your kind remembrance of us and for your intended present of loaves to Mrs. W. which however came not to hand because of the Tapu. I am obliged to conclude remaining yours truly, J. Whiteley P. S. Mr. Schnackenberg has asked me about some Powder and childrens shoes which you sent by the late Mr. Skivington for Mr. Miller I never heard of nor saw them.
