Letter from T.G.B. to Donald McLean Esq. My dear McLean, I write you one line to say that (unless something unforseen occurs) I intend to leave this for Wellington by the ''White Swan'' on her next trip. I trust the steam service will be satisfactorily arranged ere long, which seems to be the most engrossing topic of interest at present. Sewell has a grand scheme for colonizing Native lands; the principle of which would be unobjectionable if it were but practicable. It shews great good will to the native race, but the Europeans would never assent to it. The ''Southern Cross'' continues its animadcersions and on Native affairs; and has published a letter signed McCaskill, which is a crowning mercy ''and bangs Bannagher'' which (as you know) bangs the Devil.'' My wife sends kindest regards, and is grateful for all your kindness to me during my illness. Believe that I participate most thoroughly in this feeling, and am yours most sincerely (Signed) T.G.B.
