. New Plymouth Novr. 17th. 1860. My Dear Sir, I have just heard that the ''Will Watch'' is leaving immediately for Manukau, I therefore send you a short private to furnish you with the latest enclosing copies of letters from the Waikato rebels which I have got Good to copy for me to forward herewith. I will furnish you with official copies for office records. Ngarongaomates letter to Pirikawau, confirms me in the opinion that I have always had of him. and would rejoice to see the rebels get the advantage over us. There was not a friendly Native wounded. -- Tiraurau was wounded by accident more than a month ago. I have received your official enclosing Mr. Hays report against me which is a tissue of base fabrications as I hope you will enable me to prove by sanctioning an enquiry, which I purpose asking for, in my official explanation which I hope to send by the next mail. If I was wrong in addressing him as Native Interpreter, I am sorry for it, but I cannot quietly submit for Mr. Hay to accuse me of being the cause of what he, by his line of conduct, has brought upon himself. Yours very respectfully, Robert Parris.
