Memorandum of Instructions for the payment of the Police Corps at New Plymouth. Monthly Abstracts will be prepared by the Inspector, for his own salary, which will be paid by the sub-Treasurer, in like manner as the salaries of other Officers. The Inspector will be supplied with the requisite funds for the payment of the salaries of Non-Commissioned Officers and Privates, from the Sun-Treasury; on furnishing a weekly statement in the form of an estimate of the number of persons of each grade, not exceeding that of the authorised establishment, it being intended that the Corps should be paid weekly. The Inspector will, on the last day of each month, send to the Sub-Treasurer, an Account, accompanied by his pay lists, supported by the signature of the persons for whom pay is charged, duly certified by himself, that the persons borne on it were effective and in performance of their duty. The Inspector will be further required to transmit to the Sub-Treasurer, three days previous to the termination of each quarter, an accout Current, containing a detailed statement of all the sums he may have received, and paid, within the quarter, on account of the services of his Department, and the balance which he may have on hand, to be deducted from the amount of his next weekly Estimate.
