Tokanu, Decr. 29th, 1866. My dear McLean, I give this letter to a young chief named Arapata who with his wife, a daughter of the late Te Heuheu and their baby were to have gone to Wellington with me - He unfortunately burnt himself in a Ngawha - I have therefore told them to go to Napier, and to give this letter to you, when they will receive a set of clothes each for themselves, and a warm dress for the baby will you do this for me. The state of things here is all that can be wished, Take care that the couple who give you this letter have warm and decent dresses. Truly yours G. Grey. Will you have them taken care of whilst at Napier. G. G.
