Wellington 27 May 61 My dear Sir As requested in your note of the 8th, I have ascertained that the voucher for £22. 6. 4 in the name of J. Taylor was forwarded to the S. Treasurer Hawkes Bay in Sep last: as that one appears to have been lost, a duplicate was forwarded on the 23rd instant. Another account for medical comforts to Hone amounting to £21. 18. 0 was included in a schedule dated the 4 April, and passed to the Treasury for payment. I hope both amounts have since been received. Major Edwards sent his report about the prisoners at the Chathams direct to the Defence Office, without favouring me with a peep at it. I will suggest to Holt that you should be furnished with a copy of it. Faithfully yours, H. Halse. To: D. McLean Esq.
