Brooklands April 30th. 1850. Dear Mr. McLean, In reply to your letter of yesterday, in reference to the proposition regarding an arrangement with Newsham, I have to acquaint you that I concur with you in opinion; and should approve of it, but I do not consider I have power to alter any specific scale that may have been adopted without authority. However, if you write and state what I say, it will, without doubt, be sanctioned. If the iron work of the late Wairua-kia bridge should not be in the way of Miss W., it had better remain where it is; but if it is, Mr. Halse can remove it. May you have a prosperous journey Yours truly (Signed) Henry King. To:- D. McLean Esq.J.P. Inspector of Police New Plymouth
