Auckland, 12 June, 1848. My Dear Sir, I duly received your last letter when you were about to start on a journey towards Wanganui. I am always rejoiced to hear from you and particularly when connected with your active and successful exertions in the public service. I do not think you could desire to be better thought of than you are by those whose opinions I know you most value. I hope you are saving money in the very commendable way of our countrymen and when you have got sufficient I shall be glad to hear that you have chosen a "bonnie lassie" for a wife. I saw the other day "Gordon" who lived formerly with you at Waiheke. He is doing well on the Thames, increasing his flock and herds and apparently happy. He desired me to remember him to you. Pray remember me to Mr.D.Bell. You are lucky in having such a clever excellent fellow in your Community. I remain, Yours truly, A. Sinclair.
