Turanga 6 April 1866 D. McLean Esq. Napier. My dear Sir, I have at length reached home once more and hope to remain unmolested for the future, As I find things have settled down pretty quietly. Mr. Wilson informs me he wishes to relinquish his duties as Comm. Issuer to Native contingents etc. I should be glad to resume the duties as before provided I could be allowed to live at home and visit Turanga Nui say twice a week for purpose of Issue of course deputing some party there to act for me should weather or other cause prevent my attendence. You possibly may replace me as after leave of absence. In the meantime I have agreed to act for Mr. Wilson until I hear from you. There are a few other matters I wish to advise with you but will leave it for a personal conference as I hear you are likely to visit us ortly, Trusting soon to see you here I am Very faithfully, J.W. Harris.
