Maraekakaho June 9th My dear Donald I know that you will be glad to hear from us by every opportunity and as the mail passes here today I hasten to send you a word by it. Archy wrote you a a long letter last week giving you a full account all that happened since you left us. I am thankful to tell you that yr dear little boy is getting on as well as you could wish. You will see him very much grown when you come home and we all think him looking a great deal stronger and more healthy looking [crossed out] since he came to the station so I hope that his stay here will be no loss to him but on the contrary much to his advantage. I attend to his lessons as best I can and in every other way. You may feel quite satisfied that he is well attended too. He is desidetly a most clever child and like all the Macleans has got a very strong will of his own but at the same time a warm generous heart. We have not heard from John since they left but we hope to hear from them by the "Queen". I do hope that you will be able to get away and return with her when she comes from Auckland. Alex came home on Saturday but it is most likely that he will be away
