Auckland 19 Nov. 1844. Donald MacLean Esq., My dear Sir, We hope you are comfortably situated at Taranaki. The object, chiefly, which I have in view in writing to you now is, to request the favor that you will make it known to parties who have any intention of removing from the Company's lands to the Waipa, that I have for myself and friends extensive claims upon some of the most fertile and desirable tracts of land at Waipa, which I would be inclined to transfer, upon reasonable terms to parties disposed to go there. A first instalment has been paid to the chiefs. The goods still due would have to be paid by the purchasers of the claims from me. I would if required go to the lands and assemble the chiefs in order that the transfer be completed, and to prevent disputes afterwards. Enclosed is a memorandum of the Tracts of Land above alluded to. Please to inform me as early as convenient what prospect there may be of effecting the transfers. I am, My dear Sir, Very sincerely yours, W. E. Cormack.
