Wellington 10th. June 1850 Hakopa, and others, offer to dispose of the tract of land situated between the Waiwakaiho and the Mangere rivers, for which they desire to receive the payment at once. The boundary extends to the Taranaki Mountain. , - "Give me the payment of the Mangere land, on to the King of the land, to Taranaki." , - "The words of Miria who said you should give payment for the land, are wrong. No, you shall have that land. It is only the remainder of what has been already sold." , - "I want the payment for the land at once." , - "I want the payment for the land at once. You have got the land. Give us the money now." , - "You have got my land. Give me the utu for my ancestor the land." , - "The land is yours. The payment ought now to be given to us." , - "My word is the same as what the others have said. My ancestor is buried under the Taranaki Mountain. Give me the payment for my land there." , - "My ancestor was killed where I wish to sell my land, therefore I have a right to sell. Urukinaki was the ancestor of mine that was killed there. Hikaia was my other ancestor killed there." , - "I agree to what the others say. It is a large tract of land. Give us the payment." , - "My words are the same as those that have already spoken. I agree to what my grand-children say on the subject. That is all my word." , - "The land is the father of man. We give it up to you. My words are the same as those that have already spoken." , - "I am partly a Ngatitama. My right to speak is small. However, I may be permitted to join you in offering to sell the land." , - "Mine, and the words of those who have already spoken." , - "I want the utu. Let us know what we are to get for our land. We wish you to agree to our words. Pay us, that the land may be quietly possessed by the Europeans." , - "The others have sold their land. I intend to do the same also. We wish to have the utu and sell all our lands and done with them. "We have received two payments already. We now want the third. Show us the money. This is the sale of all our land on to the Mountain. You have the head; the feet is all that is now left. What you have now purchased is of much greater extent than all that has been yet bought." , - "You do not require to cut any boundaries. The river Waiwakaio forms one side of the boundary, and extends as far as the Taranaki Ranges." , - There is no necessity for a boundary. You may pay the money at once." - "There are some objections at Taranaki to the sale of this land. Consequently it will be improper to make the payment now." , - "The owners of the land in the Interior are descended from Ngatirukinaka." , - "I want two instalments of the money here, and the rest to be paid to the people at Taranaki. "We wish to have four instalments for our land; the first to be £400. We do not desire to go to Taranaki. We give our consent here. We shall continue talking to you till we get the payment on our lands.
