I fear it is dangerous you thinking of starting for Otago so soon after such a sever attack as you have had. Would it not be better for you to remain untill the 28th and see how you would feel then. Is the doctor quite of opinion it is safe for you to start on Thursday. I feel very much grieved that Archy did not send the gig for me as he promised to do as I have a great desire to see you ere you leave. I had accounts by last mail that my beloved father was very ill and to all appearance sinking fast. He had not partaken of anything but a little wine for several days. I trust the change when it does come will be to him a most blessed one but to my poor mother the most severe of all her trials and they have not been few.
